Promenade under trellis overlooking courtyard and reflecting pool
About this project:
Located in a steep hillside location, the architect created a series of simple, barnlike buildings each with a barrel vault roof and clerestory windows on gables. Designed to be seen from an adjacent freeway the cultural center faces as much outward as inward. Clustered around a garden courtyard and waterfall are quiet and inviting meeting spaces. An upper promenade and trellis structure winds through a garden.
