3542 Hayden Avenue
Artist: Eric Owen Moss
About this project:
A complex of buildings features The Umbrella, a deconstructive structure with curving glass awning, an exposed stairway, twisted tubular steel forms that juts out from the corner of the building, The Stealth Theater and Office Complex, that reminds viewers of a stealth jet fighter with an angular low black presence along the street, The annex to this building consists of layered glass walls incrementally inclined near the entrance to this building, The Box is a center piece of this project with a box like form that appears to float above the roof of the structure, The Beehive contains a central design feature reminiscent of its name sake. The landscaping that surrounds this building contains mound and a grid pattern of pavers that is an effective counterpoint to the architecture, Trivida connects to the The Stealth Theater and Office Complex. The distinctive feature of this building is the bay window design and fenestration, 3535 Hayden Avenue Building, a four-story building consisting of tubular steel and wide-flanged beam construction. The combination of dissimilar volumes creates an interesting spatial effect complemented by exterior wood trusses and steel beams.
