About this project:
The park, lagoon and promenade were inspired by the Burj Khalifa's unique triple-lobed shape. The three distinct areas include the Address hotel, residential and office spaces. A promenade along the Dubai lake, outdoor spaces, outdoor dining, play areas and water feature combine to create a destination for residents and visitors to Dubai. 15 million gallons of water from the cooling condensers for the Burj Khalifa are used for irrigation. The plaza that encircles the tower expresses the key imagery of the Hymenocallis, or Spider Lily through an iteractive pattern of banding including concentric and radiating arcs, criss-crossing lines, and a cool gray palette of granite to convey the extension of the tower-inspired form and a feeling of comfort through the seasons. The lagoon's fountain, designed by WET, features a choreographed display of water-jets which project water through hundreds of high pressure nozzles. The jets of water dance to the music that is broadcast throughout the lagoon area. Lights illuminate each jet at night creating a very popular spectacle for visitors. This is the tallest performing fountain in the world.
