overview of pyramid from rear
About this project:
In the La Jolla location, the artist grew a crop of corn on a vacant lot. At its full height, the corn (maize) will simulate the walls of a maze. At the Children's Museum, a stepped pyramid is terraced with planted corn. The artwork addresses the placing of monetary value on land as real estate, the temporary character of buildings, and the assimilation of Native American cultures by new populations.
